Rejoicing with the angels!

We are rejoicing with the angels over the salvation of children here at camp. As the campers were sharing their favorite part of camp in chapel last night one girl shared that she accepted Jesus during the day! What a priviledge to be a part of God's work here.

However, there is a battle raging and we are feeling the attacks of Satan. A number of our team members were struggling with discouragement last night but discouragement that seems unfounded. We know that fatigue can be part of that exhaustion and many are suffering from fatigue and being extremely tired but we know that Satan is trying to stop what God is doing in and through us. Please pray, especially for our junior counselors today. They are with the kids 24-7 and they seem to be the ones that are most discouraged. We claim the promise Greater is He that is in you than he that it in the world. Pray that our team will sense the power of God as we serve Him today.

Thank you again for your continued prayer suppport. We are having an awesome time and look forward to sharing our experiences and pictures with all of you when we return!

We're so grateful for all of you!

Carol

  1. Please let the "JC"s know that they have a tremendous amount of support and prayers coming from back home...
    Also this is one piece of advice from a former "JC" to others, I found that one of the best things you could possibly do is get up an hour before your kids do (yes i know its early) and go out and pray on the beach, bring your Bible and start reading Psalms. My favorite is Psalm 46. verse 10 says
    "Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth."
    Also, Journal, Journal, Journal...make sure to write everything you are feeling so you can recall the information later when you talk about your trip.
    Stay connected. Find someone (Like Bender who has done this before, or Tommy or Carol) and share your frustrations and victories with them. Also, be with members of your team whenever possible (like after the kids have gone to bed). Dont leave your Councilor without asking but usually they will understand.
    Finally, find ways to apply their behavior (disrespectful, etc.) to situations in your own lives...for example, Last year i had the crazy cabin of athletic and rowdy and unbelievers, all the other "JC"s got respectful kids, but i didn't. And by Thursday i was SO frustrated with these kids i just couldn't be with them anymore. So i left my kids with my councilor (during chapel) and went down to the beach and balled my eyes out cause i was so frustrated. After i finished, my small group leader (Matt Brunk) came up to me and talked to me about it. He helped me realize situations in my own lives where i gave very little repect and how the kids were acting was very similar to how i acted in my own life. Well that led to me balling my eyes out again but long story short, it gave me a newfound patience and understanding for these kids.
    Well I hoped this helped. Have a great time and remember what it is all about.
    Sincerely,
    Michael Blair

    PS. Did i mention this was the trip that i discovered the beauty of hot chocolate packets put into coffee???
